LAS VEGAS – An angry judge doubled O.J. Simpson’s bail to $250,000 on Wednesday for violating terms of his original bail by attempting to contact a co-defendant in his armed robbery case.

Simpson, clad in jail attire, grimaced as the amount was announced and meekly acknowledged that he understood.

“I don’t know Mr. Simpson what the heck you were thinking — or maybe that’s the problem — you weren’t,” Clark County District Court Judge Jackie Glass told Simpson.

“I don’t know if it’s just arrogance. I don’t know if it’s ignorance. But you’ve been locked up at the Clark County Detention Center since Friday because of arrogance or ignorance — or both.”

Glass said that the initial court order to not contact other defendants was clear and she warned that if anything else happened Simpson would be locked up.

Ouch! That’s a $125,000 bitch-slap.

Writer’s Strike Takes Another BIG Step Backwards

LOS ANGELES – Four major studios have canceled dozens of writers’ contracts in a possible concession that the current television season cannot be saved, the Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday.

The move means the 2-month old writers strike may also endanger next season’s new shows, the Times said.

January is usually the beginning of pilot season, when networks order new scripted shows. But the strike leaves networks without a pool of comedy and drama scripts from which to choose.

20th Century Fox Television, CBS Paramount Network Television, NBC Universal and Warner Bros. Television told the Times they have terminated development and production agreements.

The newspaper said more than 65 deals with writers have been eliminated since Friday.

It’s going to be a bit before we see anything new. I read somewhere the writers have already lost 150 million and production has lost 250 million in salaries since the strike began.

And then there’s the people who have moved out there to get into the industry and to make a go of it.; actors, filmmakers, producers. The strike has ruined many potential careers before they’ve even had the chance to start.

U.S. Approves Cloned Animals For Consumption

January 16, 2008

ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) — Meat and milk from most cloned animals are safe to eat, the Food and Drug Administration announced Tuesday.

According to a 968-page “final risk assessment,” the FDA finds no safety risks in meat from healthy cloned cows, pigs or goats or milk from cloned cows and their offspring.

“Food products derived from cattle, swine, and goat clones pose no more risk than food derived from sexually reproduced animals,” the report said.

However, in the end, the FDA decided it needed more information to determine the safety of meat and milk from cloned sheep. The FDA also decided food from newborn cattle clones, “may pose some very limited human food consumption risk.”

The agency reportedly included hundreds of pages of raw data in the risk assessment, to help the public understand how it came to its findings.

Last week, the European Food Safety Authority made an interim ruling about food from cloned animals and their offspring, saying it was unlikely there was any difference from food derived from traditionally bred animals.

Well, here’s the official Thrall Assesment: Clones = no good.

And that’s Whether we’re fighting Storm Trooper armored clones with Inter-Stellar Battleships, running for our fucking BALLZ from a crazy clone T-Rex, or even the uncomfortable prospect of eating them at the Steakhouse with a fork with everyone giving each other the weird eye and arguing over who’s got to take the first bite.

Questions for Veggie-Sauruses out there. Is it any less inhumane to slaughter cloned animals than non-cloned animals?
